  1. First trim your pubic hairs as short as possible. This can be done with scissors or electric hair clippers.
  2. Take a hot bath or shower. Your skin will feel soft and smooth, which makes the shaving process a lot easier.
  3. It’s a good idea to cool down the area you want to shave.
  4. Use a proper shaving cream or gel. Avoid shaving products used by men at all costs. Leave the shaving cream for a few minutes and make sure no cream enters the vagina. Optionally you could dab on some shaving oil before applying the cream. This will make the razor glide better.
  5. Always take a new razor blade. Disposable razors are a no-go! Instead pick a razor with pivoting head and multiple blades.
  6. Initially always shave with the grain. This minimizes the risk of skin irritation (so called red bumps), ingrown hairs and a burning sensation. The end result, however, will be a little less smooth than when you shave against the grain. Therefore, some people prefer to combine the two: first with the grain, then against the grain. To prevent irritation never go over an area more than twice and rinse the blade in between strokes. Let the razor do the work, no need to press hard.
  7. Watch out when shaving around the labia. Take your time and make sure you don’t cut yourself. Use one hand to stretch the skin and squat down so that you can reach the area more easily. Some women might find that placing a mirror on the floor helps too.
  8. After shaving, rinse your pubic area liberally with water alone. No soap please!
  9. Carefully pat dry with a towel and apply a neutral skin lotion or some baby powder.
  10. Obviously it is necessary to keep your pubic area clean by washing it every day. Use only water or a special product like Lactacyd Feminine Wash. It is very normal to experience some irritation at the beginning. This is because your skin needs to get used to shaving. By shaving every three days or so you avoid sharp stubbles and accustom your skin to the shaving process. You will notice that the itching and irritation will disappear after a while.
