While the fashion industry is already focusing on fall/winter, flowers are in bloom and summer is approaching. We fashionable women know what that means: going through our wardrobe looking for pieces we can incorporate in a trendy look and shopping for new ones. The guiding principles are color, texture and style. Today I will go more deeply into fashionable colors for this spring/summer season.
In times of financial crisis, there is usually a trend towards more sober and down toned colors. This is reflected by the presence of many subdued, warm and neutral colors. Nude tones and pastels will be hot this season! Think ice cream and soft peach colors. But don’t you shy away from combining these muted colors with more vibrant and bright ones like tomato red, yellow, turquoise, violet or blue.
I must admit that my first encounter with this season’s colors left me fairly unimpressed. The dominance of pastels made it look a tad boring, as I like more vivid colors. However, the more I thought about it, the more possibilities started to reveal themselves. The spring colors for 2010 are actually easy to wear and combine. Can you see the blue, tomato red and ever-present white come together in a sexy but stylish nautical look? I can! I also fell in love with the turquoise, because it brings you closer to sunny destinations and I like the way it sets out a beautiful tan.
Of course, this does not take away from the fact that this year’s spring/summer palette will be too plain for some of you. But there is good news for those people too. There will certainly be brighter interpretations of these colors around. Think about fiery shades of red, brighter yellows and deep blues. And last but not least, floral prints are an excellent way to spice up your wardrobe as they are very much in vogue this spring/summer season. I added some pictures of fabrics for inspiration.

I am dying to find out how you femitas feel about this season’s colors. Please drop a comment and I’m pretty sure we’ll have a lively discussion going on here!
