Menswear
After the boyfriend sweaters, blazers and shorts from last spring, the fall 2010 runway showed classic tailored suits and tuxedos. Suits can either be minimalist and sober or flamboyant and dandyesque, that’s up to you!
Black
Black will be everywhere this fall/winter. The reasons are manifold: black is simple, easy to match and it’s timeless. And that’s exactly what many woman want from a color. This is good news for you leather lovers too. Black leather outfits in gothic and vampire style are in for once. Twilight or True Blood anyone?
Capes and ponchos
Easy to wear and a lot of fun! Capes and ponchos come in all shapes this season. From tiny and sophisticated to over-the-top big and dramatic. Ideal to quickly add some extra elegance to any outfit.
Collage
This trend takes its inspiration from (street) art. We see it in the use of mixed materials like prints, lace and pearls, and in the comeback of patchwork. Don’t be afraid to get into creative mode in true DIY spirit. This can really make you stand out from the crowd. One little reminder: don’t overdo your accessories. You’re not a Christmas tree.
Textures
Fall/winter 2010 will be all about texture: velvet, velour, cashmere, mohair and especially fur! Boots, shoes, coats, jackets, bags,… you name it. Fur is king, but you know what’s even better? You don’t need to go for the real thing. Chanel, for example, had only faux fur in its collection. Just remember that quality is key, even for synthetic fur.
Retro dresses
Think curvy hourglass shapes and below-the-knee pencil skirts. The 50’s and 60’s inspired silhouettes are versatile and accentuate femininity. Watch Mad Men if you don’t know what we mean.
Gold
Decadence is back and it feels great! Drawing from 70’s glamour, we see gold lamé coats and shiny metallic draped dresses. There is nothing like some good old sophisticated shimmer to lighten up those cold winter days.
Long
Enjoy your last days in mini skirts and high heels. Fall and winter 2010 clothes will be long, day and night alike. Maxi dresses will come in many different styles and the exact length can vary between shins and ankles. Extra tip: the maxi trend looks great with flat-soled boots!
Wide pants
If you’re going for pants, wide pants are your only fashionable option. You can, however, take this trend into different directions: either simple and monotone or colorful and bohemian.
Layers
Instead of the sheer layers we had last spring/summer, fall/winter brings textured layers. Think shearling, cashmere, denim etc. The layered look will give you this careless nomad-chic look, especially when combined with hand woven items like shawls.
Gloves
Gloves provide a quick and easy way to transfer a good outfit into a great outfit. They can really make or break your look this season. If you want to be really on-trend, fingerless or lacy gloves are the way to go.
High collars
They were on our list of biggest fashion mistakes, but here they are: turtlenecks! I’m still not a big fan, but a lot depends on how you wear it. Try to mix colors and add some accessories to avoid looking dull. In case of shirts and blouses, button up all the way!
Military
It’s here again, but this time inspiration comes from 20th century military outfits. This means a shift away from pomp and circumstance toward more subtle military boots, jackets and trench coats. The fall/winter 2010 urban warrior wears army green and opts for a minimalist approach.
Lingerie as outerwear
Uhu, even in winter the brave show some skin. Exposed bras, cut out clothes, or stay-ups with lacy details can be worn as part of a layered outfit. Sexy and feminine. Not to forget cold!
Which trends are you looking forward to? Anything you won’t wear unless there is a gun to your head?

I love to wear military dresses..The military jackets are really attractive.Fall fashion trends 2010 is having great collection of military dresses.
I agree with you teal. The military trend has been en vogue for quite some time now, but I’m still not tired of it. I love the more basic approach for this fall/winter.
I agree as well. I’m still not over the military trend, especially for women’s outerwear. I am about sick of all the large graphic prints though.
